Four years later

I first set foot downunder just a little under 4 years ago. Since then, some things have changed, but a lot has also stayed the same which has been quite a relief because basic things, like finding the closest grocery store, are much easier this time around.

The one things that is probably the most different, is the place where I live. It is not the student residence I used to live in, and I like so much more. Here are a few pictures of my new home.

If you come visit, remember our door number (and buzzer number), is 6. When people come into our building, they get confused, because our buzzer is the fourth one, and you go buy apartment 4, and then 2 before getting to ours. Apartment 5 is after ours.

This is what you see once you've stepped into our place. It's a living room/guest room/dinning room/kitchen/bar/office/patio all in one. And yes, that's Rowan in the back. He's done a great job at finding us a nice home, and the basic furniture/appliances we needed.

A better view of the kitchen. On the first day we got here, even before we had any furniture in, Rowan put up a poster of the Quebec flag. That way, I'll never forget where I am from (just in case the 3 cans of maple sirup aren't enough of a reminder). We have people over for dinner about once a week (so far) and have been enjoying staying in even though we are surrounded by fun and cheap take-away places.

This is the most used part of the house. It's the dinning room (also used for the to prepare meals due to lack of counter space and my desk), Rowan's desk, and to the right, our mini bar/book shelf/storage space.

Upstairs is our bedroom. We are still missing a few bits and pieces of furniture, so there will probably be better pictures in the coming months. Right now, this works for us....especially since I got most of the closet space :)

And last....the view from our upstairs patio. Right now, there is nothing on the patio, so it's not worth a picture but the view is. I had to stretch out a bit to take this, but seeing the Sydney Tower from home, is nice. It's sponsored by a bank (AMP) which had its letters on top of the tower, but if I got for a stroll in Hyde Park, depending on the angle, it looks like MP Tower. Yep - they like me that much!
