Future Music and smelly bodies

In the last week, I was lucky enough to attend 2 music shows (and a movie as part of the Sydney French Film Festival).

At the first concert, Phoenix, I learned a good lesson in attending Australian public events: if you bring anything that may make you smell better, it will get confiscated. So this last Tuesday, the guards confiscated my almost full pack of gums. No good breath for me. I feel a bit sorry for my boyfriend. That was only the start of it. This weekend, was the Future Music Festival and it started with this:

Not only do they prefer you smell bad, they also confiscate your sunscreen. In the country where there is most likely one of the highest percentage of skin cancer because the ozone layer is nonexistent (or so everyone likes to tell me whenever I head outdoors), why would you confiscate sunscreen from kids who are about to spend a whole day (noon to very late) outside in a field with no shade? Strange. At least it made for some interesting comments from all who had to go through security!!

All complaining, aside, after we managed to go through security and the smelly bodies, we ordered our maximum of 2 drinks per order (they do at least allow you more than one order per person - bizarre) and made our way to the main concert area, happy to be there and looking forward to a day/evening of good music and dancing.

In total, there were over 5 different stages/places to see the many acts, including a Roller Disco and a Silent Disco. As much as these would have been fun to try out, we decided to stick to the main stage area to see our favourites. We saw Erick Morillo, Way Out West, Franz Ferdinand, David Guetta, Boys Noize and Prodigy.
